What purpose does astrology have in one’s life?   Great question!  In the scheme of things life will go on whether or not we know what is going on in the heavens.  It is not because the planets are doing something to us that anything happens.  However, the planets do reveal and reflect what is happening at any given period of time in the collective and individual consciousness.  Often times you’ll hear people say “Oh, it must be Mercury retrograde my computer crashed or is acting up”.  When in actuality Mercury retrograde is just bringing us the awareness that we probably should have made a back up sooner and the little glitches we have been experiencing all along and didn’t pay much attention to, now must be addressed.

On a personal level astrology can assist us to begin to understand who we are at a deeper level as well as others and to discover our true essence and purpose in the world. We tend to approach our psychological and emotional development from the view of being broken and that we need to fix ourselves.  Astrology can help us understand how and why we are the way we are.  It can reveal total patterns and help us to accept our Self wholly so that we can make clear choices moving from a fate or destiny driven life (life runs us) to a more conscious will driven life (consciously responsible).  It is in this understanding and acceptance that we can be open and ready for changes and opportunities.   Astrology can be used to understand cycles in our life development as in for example the lunation cycles.  There are cycles within cycles.  Furthermore, we do not define a phase as good or bad.  Rather, it is important to see that every phase of life is meaningful.  Every planet that transits our own chart is food for our growth.  If it creates tension and makes us feel uncomfortable or ill at ease then it is probably an area that needs attention and we must look at it.  For to ignore it, is to stay stuck.   Lastly, astrology is an archetypal enfoldment of a life.
