Sojourn - Services for battered women & their children.
Established in 1977, Sojourn provides battered women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives. Sojourn fosters solidarity among women and children, educates the community and society, and is committed to effecting political and social change through grassroots activism and a philosophy of individual empowerment. The Sojourn crisis center provides 4-6 weeks of supportive services, including legal and social services advocacy and clinical therapy, in a confidential location. The Adams Family Foundation House is Sojourn's second-stage shelter, which is for clients whose trauma experience is too great to move directly from the crisis shelter to a transitional facility or independent living. Women and their children receive up to six months of therapeutic programming and volunteer support necessary to assist the healing process. They also provide the OCEAN program ( On-call Emergency Advocate Network) for immediate, in-person crisis intervention, in association with law enforcement and medical facilities. In addition they provide a 24 hr hotline and a children's program.

Whether it’s a friend, a family member, or the neighbor down the street, we all know someone who has been touched by cancer. Many of you know that I have had cancer too. I am glad to say I am Surviving Strong. Many of us are concerned about this disease and want to do something to make a difference. I am now involved with the American Cancer Society helping to raise funds to support finding a cure. That’s why I’ve decided to take part in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®. The Relay For Life® is an event that brings together the whole community and helps raise funds for the fight against cancer. I know you care about finding a cure too, and I would love you to join me as part of my Relay team. You can help my team, Surviving Strong, by signing up to walk on July 14-15 for as little as ½ hour, or by helping to raise funds by pledging on our team website http://www.acsevent.org/relay/ca/Orange/Surviving_Strong

Luminaria Ceremony
FYN Organizer: Ritchie Wills
At the event, on July 14 @ 10am through July 15 @ 10am, we will camp out overnight, walk around the track, and meet many new people with incredible stories of survival and courage. There is an awesome tribute to cancer survivors and caregivers, called the Luminaria Ceremony, that starts off the night at sundown. This is a very moving ceremony honoring those who have fought the disease. You can have your own luminaria bag with a $10 donation (details on the website using the "luminaria donation" link). You then decorate the bag in honor of or in memory of a loved one. Each bag is lighted and read during the ceremony. I can truly say Relay is unlike anything else you will ever do. It’s a night full of fun, hope, and remembrance.
Please help with the For You Network Redlands Fund Raiser
Bring your Pull-Tabs to For You Network meetings! The Redland For You Network Connection asks your assistance to collect “Pull-Tabs” for the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House
- Pull-tabs are the aluminum tops off your soda or beverage cans.
- Our House collects tabs all year around and they can be dropped off at any time.
- The tabs are recycled and the funds are used to help support our House and the children and families we serve.
At the 2006 Collect-A-Million Day, hundreds of dedicated collectors delivered 20 million pull-tabs and raised $10,000 for the House.

Jerry Casillas, Director of CAP and Kristy Horn, representative thanked everyone for the generosity. It was such a wonderful feeling to be able to present Kristy with the knowledge of what the For You members did out of the kindness of their hearts, and can hardly wait to see her face when she sees how much was collected for them. |
