Member Susan Pomerantz
Following a major career transition, Susan Pomerantz, Founder and President of Concepts for Living, ventured into health care 16 years ago at the JewishHome for the Aging as Director of Volunteer Services. From there, Sue developed prototype volunteer programs for privately owned nursing facilities throughout the Los Angeles area. However, it was her love for hospice that gave her a heartfelt mission. At the inception of a new Southern California hospice, Sue was invited on board as the Director of Community Education and Admissions, as well as the Director of Volunteer Services.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Illinois, Susan actively utilized her background in communications to educate the community in the hospice philosophy. Currently, as owner of Concepts for Living, her respect and love for seniors is validated daily and the educating continues. With Concepts, she combines her instincts for listening, encouraging and caring with her formal training in communications, to accomplish the mission of Concepts: helping those in need of direction and change with most appropriate answers to their living needs, to know the choices available to them and hence, the solution.
Her involvement with networking organizations span both her senior industry and the “lay” community, the latter being especially important because “the senior population and their families are unaware that there are services such as ours to help them through some changing times”.
In the past, she served in the capacity of President of two chapters of a well-known networking organization and facilitated a third. She currently co-chairs two networking groups of senior professionals. She says, “the idea is to make it a party, where everyone wants to be a guest. Personally, I love hosting a great party!”
